Reflections

I look forward to my day-offs. I relish the thought of long walks by the water and quiet moments by the sea. No matter the weather, be it morning or sunset, there’s always something inspirational, something that catches the eye and satiates the soul. I noticed that reflections have a different mood to it depending on the time of day and the intensity of the sun.

“Only in quiet waters do things mirror themselves undistorted. Only in a quiet mind is adequate perception of the world.” Hans Margolius

In life, we often see reflections of ourselves, not just in mirrors, but in those whom we influence most. We see glimpses of our grumpiness, nuances of our negativity, and evidences of our evil nature. We can choose to ignore them or we can begin to clean up some of those blemishes that distort His image in whom we were fashioned after.

“For if you just listen and don’t obey, it is like looking at your face in a mirror but doing nothing to improve your appearance. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you keep looking steadily into God’s perfect law – the law that sets you free – and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it."
James 2:23-25 (NLT)
