Life Lesson

This entire month, the blogs will be on Life lessons from the book of Proverbs....

“A manual for living, for learning what's right and just and fair; to teach the inexperienced the ropes and give our young people a grasp on reality. There's something here also for seasoned men and women, still a thing or two for the experienced to learn—Fresh wisdom to probe and penetrate, the rhymes and reasons of wise men and women.” Proverbs 1:2-6 (The Message)

When I was still in the air force, one of the reasons we had manuals for everything was not just so new ground and aircrew would know what to do. Even after 12 years, we still had those same manuals sitting in front of us and going through the same procedure step by step.

I remembered one incident years ago when a fighter pilot returning from a target tow mission during his landing approach somehow created a freak accident that killed a civilian motorcyclist. (Target tow mission -You tow a target on a cable 1 km long and your buddies use live munitions to shoot at that target)

The accident happened because at three levels, professionals who knew their jobs very well did not follow their manuals. It combined to create a freak accident which resulted in the needless death of an innocent person.

The bible is a manual not just for the young Christian but for mature believers. Ignoring its warnings and not following principles and guidelines can result in failure in life.
