Jasper to Edmonton

Jasper National Park was declared a UNESCO World Herotage Site in 1984.
This park, established in 1907, is the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies with 10,878 square kilometers of mountain wilderness; and it includes the glaciers of the Columbia Icefields , numerous hot springs, countless lakes, waterfalls and, of course, mountains.

It is internationally-renowned for wildlife viewing, and is home to some of North America's rarest animals, including healthy populations of grizzly bears, moose, caribou, wolves, elk, mule-deer,white-tailed deer, mountain goat, bighorn sheep, black bear, beaver, Rocky Mountain Pika, hoary marmot, gray wolf, mountain lion and wolverine.

Near Jasper, we came across a herd of bighorn sheep beside the road.

On my return trip, the car in front of mine nearly had a collision with a juvenile black bear.
If you’ve ever been to the Rockies, you will understand why it’s so aptly named.
The number of lakes and rivers that dotted the landscape helped make the 12 hour trip to Edmonton bearable.

Thought for the day:
Life is not about getting to the destination – it’s more about the journey.
